If you are a woman, receiving an engagement ring is surely going to be one of the highlights of your life. Hopefully, you will only receive one, but many women seem to be in the market of collecting diamond engagement rings these days. Times have certainly changed since the last generation of lovebirds became engaged and married. Back then, people usually stayed married for the long haul. This meant dealing with each other's quirks and annoying habits instead of just giving up on the marriage. Divorce was very uncommon and was thought to bring negative attention to yourself and your family.
Currently in the United States, over half of marriages end in divorce. It seems as though people are getting married for the wrong reasons and not remembering the sacred union between two people. If you "accidentally" become pregnant, this is not a reason to become married. This should instead be a hard life lesson learned. After you check that off of your list, take notes on the next reason not to get married: For money. Sure, the lavish lifestyle wealth can provide is fun, but is it the foundation of a lasting relationship? Are you in love with his money, or are you in love with him? Be smart and always remember the decision to get married will affect the rest of your life - whether it lasts or not.
